How to Flower

Textured Art – Your First Flower Design

Create Stylish Petals with Structure & Depth 🌸🎨

Looking for a design that’s elegant, fun to make, and turns out impressively beautiful with just a little practice? Then our Textured Art Flower design is just what you need!

In our step-by-step video tutorial (below), we’ll show you exactly how to create a stunning flower motif on your canvas using texture paste and the right palette knife.

🔧 What you’ll need:

  • 1x canvas (30x30 cm)
  • 1x palette knife No. 22 or No. 44
  • 1x texture paste
  • 1x paper underlay & a pair of gloves
  • Optional: Acrylic paint for coloring (be careful not to add too much, or your paste may become too runny)

🌸 Why flower designs are so popular

Flower motifs are among the most loved and versatile Textured Art designs. With different palette knives, you can create unique petal shapes – from abstract to delicate and playful. Thanks to the 3D texture, your finished piece will look premium and instantly eye-catching on your wall.

Pro tip: A single large flower on a monochrome background can look super classy – sometimes, less is more!

✅ Things to keep in mind:

  • Apply paste properly: The way you load paste onto your palette knife is key to a clean result – watch the video to learn the technique.
  • Clean edges = crisp petals: Make sure no excess paste is sticking to the sides of your knife to achieve clean, defined shapes.
  • Use just enough paste: Don’t overload – too much paste can make the flower look messy. For more delicate petals, go thinner.
  • Acrylic paint: If coloring your paste, only add small amounts of paint. Too much will make the paste too fluid and harder to shape.
